Mr. Punch of Belgrave Square will Continue on Monday

Well, didn’t we have a whole big personality kerfuffle this week? It seemed for awhile that Mr. Punch was being pushed aside by two of the Duke’s other personalities—Mr. Scaramouche and his creation, Kasperl. Kasperl even made a rather terrifying appearance to Charles, threatening to kill the Duke’s body. Thinking quickly, but not too clearly, Charles socked the Duke in the jaw. It worked, however, and Kasperl retreated. After quite a long struggle inside their shared body, Punch was triumphant (after reminding Julian that the others, and himself, were merely the Duke’s own thoughts). Mr. Punch returned to a very relieved Robert, but, also to a household still in chaos.

Meanwhile, downstairs, Lady Constance was making demands on Baron Lensdown. Not only did she inform him that she was aware of his past, his many lovers and his scheme with Ellen, she told him that she knew of Ellen’s birth as well as the Baron’s supposed murder of her Ellen’s “brother,” Roger. Constance told the Duke, ostensibly “I’ll keep your secret, if you keep me financially and give our illegitimate daughter a name. Oh, and you have to confess to killing my mother.” The baron had no choice but to agree, but, I suspect (and I suppose I should know) that he’s not going to take this bit of blackmail lightly.

Also, in the Servants’ Hall, Mrs. Pepper, Georgie, Ethel and Jenny were discussing the tragic events of the evening. Before going to the kitchens, Ethel noted that the very-despised Miss Barrett bore a strange resemblance to the portrait of the Duke’s “late” sister, Lady Barbara (who is living in New Orleans as a mad prostitute). In the darkened kitchens, Ethel is attacked, but she fights and screams. The attacker, it is discovered, is Ellen Barrett and Georgie restrains her. But, not for long. Finlay shows up with a knife and Ellen and he manage to escape.

Mrs. Pepper and the kids rush upstairs to tell the Duke that Ellen was saying she was the Duke’s sister. Robert is shocked, but, suddenly, to Punch, everything starts to make sense.

Now…how will Punch react? He could go one of two ways. He could be kind and reach out to Ellen. Or, he could hit her with a stick. You’ll have to come back on Monday to see what happens. Also, we’ve still got murderers on the loose (more, maybe, than you think) and Finlay and Ellen continue to be up to no good. Lady Constance may get a nasty surprise. The Baroness Lensdown will not be pleased to learn what and who her husband has been doing. And, let’s not forget mean old Johnny Donnan. Will he be pleased to be introduced to his daughter?

There’s lots going on. Don’t miss a chapter. But, if you do, there’s always the Chapter Archive to help you out.

Thanks for reading!
