Nobody painted animals like Sir Edwin Landseer, RA (1802 (0r 1803)-1873).  Here’s a study in oils for a larger painting which Landseer completed in the 1850s.  It’s a frog, obviously.  The sketch alone was exhibited at the Royal Academy.
