Goal for the Day: Protect Your Identity

While our automated world makes daily life a lot easier, there are still instances when we need to physically sign a check or a document. Very often these pieces of paper which bear our mark, also include a great deal of other personal information (driver’s license numbers, social security numbers, credit card information) that, if found in the wrong hands, could lead to big problems later on.

If you’re mailing signed, personal information, you might want to consider dropping the envelope off at a local post office as opposed to just leaving it in your mailbox where anyone could walk by and snatch it. Make sure to shred personal documents that you’re discarding instead of just throwing them away. And, never carry a list of pin numbers and passwords with you where they can be easily taken or copied.

Unfortunately, for as careful as we think we’re being, there’s someone else who fancies himself markedly more clever and will try to get his hands on your valuable information. Taking a few extra precautions will assure your personal data remains personal.
